Ashika Dhaurali
Ashika Dhaurali is a human rights advocate focusing on international law and the rights of stateless and marginalized communities. Born to Bhutanese refugee parents and raised in a refugee camp in Nepal, Ashika’s personal journey has fueled her passion for human rights. She previously served as the Youth Coordinator for the Global Campaign for the Release of Political Prisoners in Bhutan (GCRPPB), where she led advocacy efforts, policy reforms, and youth empowerment initiatives. She co-authored the 2024 Universal Periodic Review (UPR) report on Bhutan and aided in presenting recommendations at UPR pre-sessions in Geneva. She also collaborated with Senator Bob Casey's office on introducing and lobbying H.Res.228.
Ashika holds a background in international affairs and criminal justice from John Cabot University in Rome and Purdue Global, respectively. She is committed to advancing the cause of displaced communities, especially those affected by forced migration, statelessness, and political persecution. Her analytical expertise includes in-depth research on Bhutan’s legal landscape, advocacy for human rights, and collaboration with prominent international organizations such as the United Nations, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International. Ashika is also an emerging voice inNepali-American diplomacy, seeking to bridge gaps between the diaspora and global policy initiatives.
